Darren Bent and Kirsty Maclaren Wedding
I had the great pleasure of photographing Darren Bent's wedding to Kirsty Maclaren a few weeks ago.
The wedding was a very private event except for the wedding ceremony at Ely Cathedral. I met up with Darren and Kirsty the day before at drinks for family and friends and whilst I was fairly nervous to meet them that all disappeared after a few minutes, both Darren and Kirsty are really down to earth people and made me feel very welcome.
They were more than happy for me to photograph their day through my eyes and also agreed to two sets of couple shots which now has become part of my coverage.The morning preparations went really well , however there was talk that the ceremony at Ely Cathedral was trending on twitter and as we arrived for the ceremony there was a rather large crowd gathering and within that the "paps" were also there. The "paps" don’t care about anything it appears, they don’t care if they get in your way, and they really don’t care that this is someone's special day.
They certainly have no respect for an official wedding photographer. The only thing I could do was to be prepared as possible and to anticipate the brides arrival as best as I could and get a better shot than them. Luckily for me it seems these local "paps" had not covered a wedding before and as Kirsty arrived I was able to get the shots I wanted, before we rushed into the Cathedral.
The reception went on late into the night with special guest performances, hilarious speeches and great musical entertainment.As part of our contract I am not allowed to show any of the images from this wedding except for one, which Darren and Kirsty have kindly agreed that I am able to blog.
This image was taken during the bridal preparations and for me is a complete story within one picture. This is a framed England shirt from one Darren's International performances, with his beautiful bride Kirsty, silhouetted within it.
