Jewish wedding at The Dorchester Hotel of Victoria and Alex as photographed by David Pullum. David has recently been voted one of the best wedding photographers in the UK for 2020

I love photographing a jewish wedding at the Dorchester Hotel for many reasons.

Firstly, it’s an iconic hotel in the West End, secondly, the weddings are always magnificent events with most being held in the legendary ballroom at the hotel.

I met Victoria, Alex and their families over Skype, it was difficult to nail down some dates to meet and both sets of parents and the bride and groom were so relaxed about their wedding that Skype was in fact perfect. The overriding impression I got was that they wanted relaxed images that showed the spirit of the wedding, the fun, emotion and happiness.

Alex is a full time Paparazzi photographer, his family have a photo agency that employs photographers all over the world and so for once Alex was in front and not behind the camera.

The ceremony and reception was held in The Dorchester Hotel, logistically making it easier for us to photograph, and with both Victoria and Alex getting ready at the hotel this really was the perfect wedding.Both sets of families were so welcoming, both wanting as natural a coverage as possible. Of course there is a need for formality at any wedding, but once we had the bride and groom pictures and then family formals the rest was left to me to photograph how I saw it.I love the ambience at a Jewish wedding, the pre ceremony rituals and the ceremony are emotionally charged events, making for wonderful opportunities to get powerful images.

That and the Israeli dancing all lends itself to producing what I think is a great story of the day.
