I have photographed around 300 weddings in Cornwall and over 700 throughout the UK and Europe. My work in the UK has taken me from Lands End in Cornwall to Inverness in Scotland and from marquees in the back garden to 5 star hotels in Mayfair.
Weddings in Cornwall though are always special and different, Its location in the UK alone provides a North Coast that is rugged and a South Coast that is more tranquil and scenic.
I love the North Coast, places like Bude, Padstow and Rock, where I have photographed a number of weddings provides a backdrop that can not be replicated. The coastline lends itself to amazing wedding images, with far reaching views, a photographers dream.
The South Coast and places like Falmouth and St Mawes offer completely different views. This is the most amazing part of Cornwall. The complete difference from North Coast to South is why the area attracts so many weddings and why people will travel from all over the UK to get married there.
Venues such as Polhawn Fort, Alverton Hotel , Pencarrow House attract clients from all over the UK who are searching for that perfect wedding venue in Cornwall.
Of course the weather will always play an important part in which venue most people choose. Personally I love a winter wedding. As a photographer the challenges of a winter wedding are so diverse that it separate the wheat from the chaff. However if I were getting married in Cornwall I think I would definitely look to book a summer wedding. The winters in Cornwall are harsh and so for me personally a summer wedding would be much better all round.
