HONEST PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVID PULLUM

Black and white photo of a bride and groom at a wedding celebration. The bride is wearing a strapless wedding dress and is touching a multi-tiered wedding cake decorated with flowers. The groom is in a suit, smiling, and standing beside her.

I believe the most powerful wedding photographs are the honest ones, the quiet moments, the subtle glances, and the unguarded interactions that reveal the true story of a day. By using Black & White, I remove distractions so that light, shadow, and human connection take centre stage, letting the feeling of each moment shine through. It’s not about style for style’s sake, it’s about capturing weddings as they naturally unfold, with authenticity and depth at the heart of every image.

My approach is documentary at its core. I work unobtrusively, letting couples live their day while I record it, creating photographs that are timeless, truthful, and deeply human. While I also provide colour images, I often return to Black & White for its unique ability to distill the essence of a moment, revealing layers of nuance and intimacy that might otherwise go unnoticed. The result is a wedding story that feels real, lasting, and entirely yours.

ABOUT DAVID

MOM

ENTS

A black and white portrait of a woman wearing a strapless dress and holding a translucent veil around her face. She has dark, wavy hair and is gazing to her left.

This portfolio spans over 20 years of weddings, large and small, yet the size of the day has never mattered. What matters is the people, their connections, and the energy they create — fleeting moments made unforgettable through honesty and observation. Each frame is chosen for its life, its truth, its pulse.

By stripping away colour, these images transcend trends and fashion, revealing what truly endures: light, shadow, and the essence of human connection. This is a collection of photographs that won’t date, won’t feel tied to a season or style, and will be treasured for generations, a timeless record of weddings as they really happened.

I deliberately resist the pull of recent trends the staged poses, over-styled details, and gimmicky edits that flood much of wedding photography today. Instead, I focus on authenticity, capturing the moments that matter most and letting the real energy of the day speak for itself. The result is a body of work that feels genuine, alive, and utterly enduring, untouched by the fleeting fashions of the moment.

I work with Leica cameras, both film and digital, because they see more than what meets the eye. Each frame captures the essence of a moment, the quiet glance, the fleeting gesture, the subtle play of light and shadow, with clarity, depth, and intimacy. Film brings texture and a tactile, almost living quality, while digital offers precision and luminous detail, together creating images that feel alive, enduring, and profoundly human. With every photograph, the Leica allows me to craft timeless stories, moments rendered with elegance and presence, celebrating weddings in their truest, most beautiful form.
